The Challenger is a 50th Anniversary Edition sporting a gold exterior.

There’s no debating which car would win if a Honda Civic Type R takes on a Dodge Challenger Scat Pack. The Civic would most likely get annihilated in a race. But what about a tuned Civic Type R? Well, Sam CarLegion through his YouTube channel pitted a widebody Challenger Scat Pack against a tuned Honda Civic Type R.

“Today I am driving the 2021 Dodge Challenger. This is the 50th-anniversary edition. It has a beautiful gold color on the outside, and has a V8 underneath,” Sam said.

Sam personally drove the car from Florida to be part of this special drag race video. The car belongs to a friend known as Kevin, who unfortunately couldn’t join.

The Dodge Challenger 50th Edition comes with a 6.4-liter V8 naturally aspirated engine making 485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. The Challenger comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission, running on a rear-wheel-drive setup.

Sam asked the owner, “What have you done to your car, and what does it make in terms of horsepower?” The tuned Type R owner answered, “So, it’s got an upgraded intercooler, a charge pipe, it’s a high flow catted downpipe, front pipe, stock exhaust. It’s got a high-volume intake and titanium turbo inlet tub. It’s custom-tuned making 380 hp and 382 lb-ft of torque."

The tuned Honda Civic Type R comes with a 2-liter, four cylinder turbo engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission on a front-wheel-drive setup.

“Joel, we’re set to go, we are going to put this in sport mode, with traction on, I am not turning off traction on this car. So, I have traction on, but full sport,” Sam said.

When it’s time to bolt, the Type R surprisingly takes the lead before the Challenger catches up winning the race by a whisker.

Next, they do a roll race at 30 mph. Sam does this race in manual mode to make it fair.

When it’s time to step on it, the Dodge Challenger quickly takes the lead, but down towards the end, Sam upshifts too early, losing power and position to the Type R. They do a rematch, but this time, the Challenger is in automatic, and the Type R once again emerges victorious but by a whisker.

“Well, Joel, thank you so much for this man. It was a lot of fun. Thank you for joining us today. Your car, it’s fast, I mean in some ways it’s somehow a little bit faster than this, in some way. But this just goes man,” Sam said.
